indecisiveness.....

::sigh::

such a fascinating creature, the human.  what other sentient being would purposefully and whole-heartedly subject themselves to such torture as being in love.

hope you had a fun weekend, Esther!

i was very pleasantly surprised with dinner at Restaraunt Japan--probably the best sushi in Columbus, factoring in the decent price per roll.  the agedashi tofu and edamame were surprisingly good as well.  esther ate a caterpillar for dinner, it was really gross.

and as anticipated, Spice was ridiculously packed by peak hour.  thank God we had the foresight to get there at like 10pm.  if you are either asian or 30something, you should go to Spice!  cuz that's predominantly everyone there.  jason told me that tuesday nights they have a DJ that spins trance and house.  i became very jealous.  and then esther slapped me a good one.

    finally got to hit up the bar/club scene in NYC, albeit only 2 places, only one of which is a "hot" club right now.  and guess what?!  they played a lot of friggin techno.  perhaps i need to move to a bigger city so i can realistically pursue my dream of throwing down live sets in a club, with people who actually LIKE and DANCE to what i mix.  OSU is so hip-hop driven it makes me want to cry.  not to say hip-hop is bad, but the over-produced shit that comes out of the music industry nowadays really does make me want to throw up all over myself.  honestly, it's like these "artists" and their record execs go into a locked room with a $15 Casio keyboard and their bottle of bub, get trashed, jot down some lyrics about shaking your ass/tailfeather/what yo' mama gave ya, and BAM!  it's a platinum single.  the day a campus bar starts to play People Under the Stairs or Blackalicious is the day i strip naked and buy a round of drinks.  oh, and sorry if this offends anyone, but so often i hear the excuse "i dont like techno because i dont know how to dance to it."  i have come to the realization that many of the people who say that, tend to be white.  and as we all know, white people are generally the worst at dancing of any ethnicity (especially white dudes.  there are two God-given truths on this planet:  asian women can't drive, and white dudes can't dance).  i can only come to the conclusion that when people say that (not just white people tho), it's more like "i dont like techno because i CAN'T dance to it."
    but that right there is the weirdest part, since we all know that what makes a terrible dancer is their incapacity to maintain a beat (ie, the correct beat).  with techno, the beat is friggin unmistakeable!  a blind dog with no legs could probably roll around to the beat if it really wanted to.

::pant pant::

i digress...  anyways, so yeah, at Lotus in NYC, they played a lot of classic 80s and 90s with a house-ish remix.  it was definitely bangin, and the crowd was definitely feelin it.  ::drool::

Esther's birfday celebration is this weekend, and i think part of the night will involve going to Spice Bar.  WHICH, i might add, interestingly enough is incredibly popular, yet, they play techno (lounge house)!!  the irony of it all....
